Friday we stumbled upon something new that I didn’t know existed. Part gallery, part pop space up located below Canal street called 393 . This cool space was presenting a new take on a book signing art opening.
The perfect combo of art and foodie fantasy the event was for the launch of Melanie Dunea new series of photos. A collection of oversize prints of some of New York’s the most iconic dishes, made by some of the most iconic restaurants.
At the same time orders of the food photographed were served to guests making this a multi sensory experience. A few of the favorites were the Rainbow cookies from Mah-Ze- Dahr bakery, Charcoal Ice cream from Morgenstern’s finest Ice cream, Dumplings from Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Pizza from Joe’s Pizza, French fries from Odeon, and Champagne served at 11 Madison Park.
Melanie Dunea is a photographer who came to NYC in 1993 from Chicago, Her photography career has since flourished and she has authored 5 books.
