August 8th and 9th Welcomed 2000 female content creators, social media influencers, and entrepreneurs to the 14th annual Sheknows Media #blogHer18 creator Summit at the Seaport District Pier 17. This two day Summit is both listening, empowering, networking and learning it is one of the best summits to go to for women who want to make a mark online and offline in life. This year was no different.
The days started off strong with Samantha Skey CEO of SheKnows Media welcoming everyone with a message of “joy , learning, and inspiration”. Ms. Skey discussed the four major themes of this year’s Creator summit “
#ValueOfWomen, which seeks to eliminate a patriarchal social structure that threatens wage parity, reproductive choice and more!
#TheGoodWeb, which focuses on digital content that is meant to connect, inspire and challenge
#PassionToProfit, focusing on passion-driven content created by women that becomes an entrepreneurial or philanthropic pursuit
#LearnToEarn, a belief that female content creators help one another level up through community and opportunity
The most important take away is what Skey said Quote “We believe it is very important that women profit off their work"
The whole room lost it with a lot of enthusiasm! We were warmed up and ready for some serious #bosslady talk.
The Summit included the amazing and inspirational women: Gabrielle Union, Brooklyn Decker, Tiffani Thiessen, and Maria Menounos. All incredibly gracious to share their stories and knowledge of how they founded their brands. Either by use of tech via an app that helps increase sales and marketing of products; explaining about the journey from television star to mother, heartwarming motivating stories of being a strong cancer survivor and now advocate. All of the speakers had us ready to uplift each other and make our best lives online and in life.
The highlight of it all was when the Amy Schumer surprised us to introduce the Voices of the Year Awards ( VOTYs) Note that the VOTY awards is for acknowledging outstanding, strong female creators who have pushed us to think more, feel more, share more, laugh more, and do more!
The Superpower Ms. Schumer then had us all raise our hands to take the pledge, “I, Amy Schumer, pledge that when I find an honest creator or content, I will promote the ever-loving sh*?!t out of her.”
With the crowd rowdy with joy she then announced the 2018 VOTY honorees …..

The conference was a brilliant example of how women need to champion each other drop the competitive unauthentic fake profiles and be who they are, because being who they are is how they will essentially find their tribe and succeed!
